Mast climb and abseil from the iconic HMS Warrior in Portsmouth proved to be a winning combination.

HMS Warrior Challenge 2012

Following on from the 2012 HMS Victory mast climb at the London boat Show Bell Rigging and Rock and Ice worked together to provide a  safe and exciting challenge that involved climbing 100 vertical feet up 2 sets of traditional rigging then descending by abseil from the fighting deck on the Warrior.

25 lucky people  had this opportunity to climb on this iconic ship and raise funds for several charities that included Team Jackie raising funds for Breast Cancer Care and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Harris HospisCare with St Christopher's.

The weather held out but was quite windy with the odd light shower at times which made the event all the more challenging.

All participants were successful ( some were quite emotional too) and well deserved the generous round of applause each time they landed safely on HMS Warriors deck.

We all finished off with a dinner of bangers and mash which went down a treat.

Well done guys!

Abseiling can be a great promotional tool for businesses - how can you use this activity?

Abseiling - a platform for promotions?

Many charities now use abseiling as a fundraising tool as it's cost effective and an adventurous alternative to say sky diving.

Abseils can be run from small buildings and structures - large buildings can also be abseiled from although the weather can be the determining factor.

Rock and Ice have assessed buildings in London up to 250m (750') in height and are currently working in Portsmouth with the tall ships which have 130' masts which can be climbed then abseiled from.

Have a look at our showreel to see what we have done in the past and what we could do for your business regarding rope access and abseil stunts.

Abseiling for charity seems very much to be a British pastime but we have had inquiries from the Middle East and Hong Kong - Americans are more likely to have a charity ball or dinner than abseil from a high rise building.

We have organised abseils in the dark and have run them at all times of the year.

Hadrians Wall abseiled down for Bright Red. April 2012 - Charity Fundraiser.

Last weekend saw Peel Crag (part of Hadrian's wall) abseiled down by many on behalf of the new charity Bright Red

Bright Red aims to improve the lives and treatment of people with blood cancer across the north of England.

The group met at the crag and proceeded to make good progress raising money for this important appeal.

Torrential rain, slippery rocks and gusting wind made things very difficult but every abseiler made the grade and finished with style.

This is the third abseil at Hadrian's wall run by Rock and Ice and this facility is available to other charities based in the north of England/ South Scotland.
